Recording Cards
The memory card is the part of the equipment that records the images formed on the camera's sensor (something equivalent to the number of poses that existed). Its measurement is expressed in megabytes, so the higher this number, the greater the space contained to store information.
Therefore, as the technology develops, new results come to the market as cards with a capacity of 1 terabyte (equivalent to 1024 gigabytes). Like cameras and lenses, memory cards also have a direct connection to
the good result of the work, since they are responsible for the quantity and speed of storage of the images from the sensor and also in the speed of transfer of these images to the computer.
Therefore, in addition to considering the space to be stored, it is important to choose cards with adequate speed for photos and videos. Thus, cards called class 10 are the most suitable for this purpose, with better performance than other cards.
card classes, in general, cheaper.
It is important to format the memory cards in their first use so that the camera data is recognized by the installed cards. Likewise, formatting can also be a resource for cards with error messages, or cards that have been used on other equipment.
Heads up
Formatting the card means erasing any and all content recorded on it. The card, once formatted, will be ready to be used as if it were the first time
Batteries
Nickel batteries are an evolution of the old NiCa (Nickel Cadmium) batteries. However, even without having the memory effect and conserving up to 30% more energy than its predecessor, these batteries are at a disadvantage compared to lithium ions, which are more expensive, however, with greater autonomy in capacity, duration and amount of recharges.
Accessories and Equipment Care
Having notions of lighting control and repertoire to train the look are fundamental to the evolution of your photo. However, there are features that go beyond the eyes and the lens to get a good image. In addition, taking care of the equipment with skill will help you to reduce the risk of damage and keep your material operating in perfect condition for longer.
Tripod
To ensure support for the camera during its work at low speeds, avoiding risks of chatter and, consequently, loss of focus and sharpness. There is also the monopod version.
External Photometer
It makes a more accurate light reading than the photometer inside the equipment.
Hitter
It works by reflecting the illumination from some more lit spot to another less lit, thus filling dark spaces with light.
Diffuser
Unlike the hitter, it redirects and softens the excess light from the photographed spot to less lit areas or, outside the main scene.
UV filter
It serves to protect the lens from damage during use.
Grip
Equipment where the camera is attached, making your body more robust and heavy. Its advantage is the fact that it accommodates extra batteries that power the camera for long hours of work, without running the risk of the charge ending up at the wrong time. It has shooting buttons that assist in taking photos in impractical positions.
Polarizing Filter
It only allows polarized light to enter the camera, dispersing unwanted reflections.
Parasol
Threaded piece that prevents the entry of side light beams into the lenses. It also helps to protect the lenses.
Carrying bag
Accommodates all equipment without hitting each other during transport.
External flash
Even with a flash attached to the camera body, it is interesting to keep other options, as its use is varied and helps for each type of lighting situation.
First, check that the lenses are covered, both on the front and in the housing of the camera body. Because, the less time the plug opening is exposed, the lower the risk of dirt and microorganisms entering.
As well as using utensils such as blush brushes and air pumps to clean the lens and body, non-abrasive cleaning cloth for the body and the camera's LCD. Do not use chemicals, except specific ones, or recommended by the manufacturers of your equipment.
This way, taking this care, your equipment and photographic accessories will have a longer useful life, reducing your cost with special maintenance.
Anyway, we will meet in the next article on photographic technique.
